Today we went to the second largest collection of Van Gogh art - it's a very Van Goghy week!
The Kröller-Müller Museum is in the middle of the Hoge Veluwe National Park, so we took trains and buses to Otterlo, bought our tickets, and then rode the free bicycles to the museum.
We were met by Isabelle Bisseling and Sandra Boks, education officers for the museum who design curriculum for teachers to lead school groups.
Their work sounds wonderfully playful. In addition to the spiral-bound curriculum ("Philosophizing with Art"), they have a "Zwaan" book series, investigative games, and a dice game that's presented to children upon museum entrance to encourage their interaction with the art.
The rest of our time was spent exploring the museum, both indoors and out. The sculpture garden is huge and offers surprises everywhere.
The most fantastic part was Kijk Uit Attention, a staircase that goes high to nowhere. The climb is steep and the views are breathtaking!
Inside the museum we saw lots of Van Gogh.
And confusing... quite disturbing things, such as Hop-Frog's Revenge.
And amusing things.
Our time was short but I would love to return, if only to cycle through the beautiful and enormous park!
